“Lore Path” Requirements
The goal of this path is to teach its students the basic ways of the guild. They will learn the guild’s history, beliefs, and will be set on the path of discovering their Way. The will also be taught some of the history of the land and some of the beliefs of the different temples in the realm. Sensei would also teach Monks different mapping and questing skills to help them advance in the land. Guild’s History: This is the ancient history included in the Welcome Packet.zip Also I encourage them to make their way over to read Mitchellx’s version, which is a little more elaborate. We test from the Ancient History document, but knowing more never really hurts. The Way: The need to read Madbaron’s Essay on the Way, it too will be included in the Welcome Packet.zip this is where we teach them that the Way is a large part of our guild, the basic and fundamental philosophy, don’t expect your student to have their definitions ready. You should be challenging the student to start thinking and learning about this fundamental aspect of our guild, and preparing for the next section. Teaching others: A tradition of the Monk’s guild has been to be helpful to others. Getting a light and robes for new members and giving them basic training information is one way of helping out. Leading on quests is a big no, no matter how big or small the quest is. Mapping: Graph paper is a must. Teach about search, examining objects, turn key, turn rock, etc. Questing: Show quests, offer, use <item>, examining things, push, pull, turn, etc. Basic Terris info: Help files, descriptions, mountname, flags, etc. Temples: This is the old way of doing things but we are re-implementing it. The Student should be asked to research a few temples, at least one, I encourage 3. Just so that they know they are out there, and such. History of Terris: They should read the creation story. It too, will be included in the Welcome Packet.zip After this lesson is completed email Fiestessa and inform her that such and such student has passed the “Lore Path” As an additional guideline the following should be known by your student before passing them off for this section. If something is still outdated I apologize. You guys are Sensei, I think you can figure out what should be omitted. I will try to update as people let me know things I overlooked. Lesson 1

“The Way” Requirements
This section is different depending on each Sensei. So these are mainly guidelines. First and foremost students should have read Madbaron’s document regarding the topic. It was asked to be read in the Lore Path, if not, it means someone didn’t do their job. Next you need to ask them about their personal interpretations, typically a person at this point in there life is going to use an analogy to describe what “The Way” is to them, and that is acceptable, but encourage them to do more, or at the very least, try to get a few analogies out of them, the more elaborate, the better they understand the concept typically. Next talk to them a little about your feelings, and make sure that they realize that the way is a person thing, and there is no write or wrong, to discuss interpretations is okay, but to say another person is wrong is a big NO. From here its your guys job to make sure they understand. Key Concepts are Balance and Enlightenment. If they talk about sharing what they learn and know that is usually a good sign of them being on track. If you guys are Sensei and don’t know how to teach this Topic, talk to one of the Head Sensei, Yojiro, or myself, we’ll be more than happy to give you some pointers, and sit in with you to help you out. I don’t want this being taught poorly, it’s a key element of our guild. After this, I think a quest is in order. You guys be the judge, also
email Fiestessa saying that “The Way” is completed. And
if you’ve taught your student all their lessons let her know
the student has completed all lessons. |
